 \nJoin us in a celebration hosted by the Environmental Law Institute and t
 he Partnership Project to commemorate the 40th anniversary of NEPA. The ce
 lebration will include a symposium\, a reception\, and the release of NEPA
  Success Stories: Celebrating 40 Years of Transparency and Open Government
 . The symposium\, reception\, and publication are all made possible with t
 he generous support of the 444S Foundation\, the Henry M. Jackson Foundati
 on\, and the Wilburforce Foundation.\nSymposium: 3:30 - 5:15 PMThe symposi
 um will feature government officials and members of the public who will di
 scuss the contribution NEPA has made to good decisionmaking by utilizing t
 he collective wisdom of our democracy. NEPA established the process by whi
 ch public officials make decisions that are based on an understanding of e
 nvironmental consequences. Through NEPA\, agencies\, tribes\, local govern
 ments\, companies\, and countless citizens have participated in and contri
 buted to these deliberations. The symposium will include presentations on 
 NEPA successes and lessons learned\, and discussion of ways to improve pub
 lic involvement in government decisions through better use of technology\,
  enhanced involvement by local communities in the planning process\, and o
 ther ideas.\nReception: 5:30 - 7:30 PMThe reception will be a celebratory 
 event to review NEPA’s transformative influence on environmental awarene
 ss and citizen participation in government decisionmaking. Join us to reco
 gnize the leaders who created NEPA\, revisit the historic contribution the
 y made\, and acknowledge the continued importance of NEPA in protecting th
 e environment and ensuring sound government decisionmaking informed by the
  public. Invitees include members of Congress and Congressional staff\, re
 presentatives from the President’s Council on Environmental Quality\, an
 d many others central to NEPA’s success.\n
